Prior to submitting manuscripts to an Open Access journal, it is essential for authors to diligently explore and secure appropriate funding opportunities.

Additional Funding Sources
  • The OA Journal Funds is a list of funds that support OA journals, maintained by the OA community at large through the Open Access Directory (OAD). The funds may be hosted by universities, research centers, foundations, or government agencies.
  • Co-Action Publishing is an Open Access scholarly publisher providing a list of universities and institutes with central funds to cover costs for OA publication fees, and of funders willing to pay these fees or that allow researchers to use part of their funds to pay for OA publication.
  • SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) is an international alliance of academic and research libraries working to create a more open system of scholarly communication that provides a list of campus-based OA publishing funds in North America.
  • The Compact for Open-Access Publishing Equity provides a list of universities that have pledged to support fees for OA publication for articles written by its faculty and published in fee-based OA journals and for which other institutions would not be expected to provide funds.
Low Income Countries
Each year IGI Global Scientific Publishing receives a significant number of requests from researchers coming from Low Income Countries. Regrettably it is impossible for a publishing house the size of IGI Global Scientific Publishing to accommodate all these requests. Furthermore, it is extremely important for all researchers from these regions to make every attempt to secure funding from numerous funding agencies around the world. These funding agencies are equipped with the necessary funds which they allocate each year to support researchers from developing nations. Your chance of receiving funding from these funding agencies is much higher as IGI Global Scientific Publishing can only support a handful of requests each year vs. funding agencies, which can support unlimited requests/applications! Once you have exhausted all your efforts in support of securing the necessary funds from funding agencies then you can complete this application and submit it to IGI Global Scientific Publishing for their consideration. IGI Global Scientific Publishing uses a steering committee to review all applications and make its recommendation in terms of funding. Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your request will be approved. This application must be supported with all necessary documents for the steering committee to make an informed decision. Our steering committee will not be able to review your application without the presentation of all necessary documents.

Items to Consider:
  • Only manuscripts submitted to full Gold Open Access IGI Global Scientific Publishing publications will be considered.
  • Authors must request a waiver or discount at the point of submission by filling out and submitting the form below. Requests filed during the review process or after manuscript acceptance will not be reviewed.
  • Requests will be reviewed in order of receipt.
Note: Nearly all funding agencies prefer that applicants apply for funding prior to submitting a manuscript to any open access publication.
